SriLankaJobs.info encourages its users to actively participate in solving the environmental issues that face the planet today. At the current rate of
forest destruction, water and air pollution, unsustainable agriculture and fisheries practices will make the planet unsuitable for sustaining life within the next few decades. Over 90% of all fish in the ocean has already being harvested by bad fishing practices such as
bottom trawlers,
long-lines and dynamite fishing.
Mono crops (plantation of just one crop) over the years have reduced soil fertility. Changing climate due to increased Carbon Dioxide and other pollutants are increasing the sudden floods, severe droughts, acid rain, tornadoes and hurricanes.
The founder and director of SriLankaJobs.info has contributed funds and resources to several non-profit organizations in Sri Lanka
dedicated to preserving our enviornment. Among these are
Rainforest Rescue International, based in Galle, Sri Lanka. RRI is taking an Active role in saving the last remaining patches of Rainforests in Sri Lanka through education and restoration of degraded lands.
Although illegal logging in the Sinharaja and Kanneliya rainforests is less than it was a few decades ago, increasingly its land has been encroached by small scale tea planters. It is important that we educate people and find a solution immediately to this growing problem,
or else there would not be any rainforest left for future generations.
SriLankaJobs.info hopes to become one of the most active organizations in Sri Lanka dedicated to preserving our environment. It welcomes ideas from other organizations and public interested in saving the environment. Please email
